AT&T Statement on Electronic Communications Privacy Act Reform

March 30, 2010, Washington, DC

AT&T today announced that it has joined a broad coalition that is seeking to update the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA), which was passed in 1986, to better reflect technological changes.

"AT&T is pleased to be part of a group seeking consensus on a balanced approach to updating the Electronic Communications Privacy Act. The principles suggested by the group set out constructive ideas and a framework for future discussions on this important issue.  We look forward to participating in those discussions, and to hearing the views of the federal government, stakeholders, and other parties."
