You may notice that your first AT&T U-verse® bill is higher than your normal bill will be. Monthly plan rates are billed one full month in advance. In addition to your monthly plan rate for the first full month of service, there may be a partial pro-rated monthly charge covering the period of time between the day your service was installed, and the start of your regular monthly billing. Also, your bill will include taxes, fees, and surcharges, as well as installation charges, activation, and other one-time charges, if any.

Depending on your billing cycle, you may receive your first bill up to a month after placing your order with us. If your service order is delayed for any reason, your first bill may be delayed.

On your first wireless services bill from AT&T, you can expect to see a few things:

  • Usage charges
  • Partial billing – for monthly service used from the day of activation to the last day of the first billing cycle
  • Monthly service and feature charges for one month in advance
  • Prorated charges or extra airtime
  • One-time activation fee
  • Government fees and taxes

All Internet charges will appear on your AT&T bill. If you also choose to order Internet equipment, this charge will also appear on the AT&T bill.

Upon DIRECTV® System activation, you will receive rebate redemption instructions (included in customer's first DIRECTV bill, a separate mailing, or, in the state of New York, from the retailer) and you must comply with the terms of the instructions. In order to receive applicable monthly credits, you need to submit the rebate online (a valid email address required) and give your consent to email alerts prior to the rebate redemption. The rebate begins up to 8 weeks after receipt of the rebate submission online or by phone. The duration of promotional price varies based on the redemption date. Your account must be in "good standing" as determined by DIRECTV in its sole discretion to remain eligible for all offers. In certain markets, programming/pricing may vary.

Home Phone

Sometimes the first bill you receive may appear higher than expected. Please remember you are paying for one month in advance for your AT&T Home Phone service. Therefore, the first bill will include the prorated charges for the time between the installation and the first billing period, and the charges for the coming month of service. Depending on when your billing and installation dates are, the total could be close to twice what you would normally expect to pay per month.
