A one star is even too much of a credit. We received crude and rude customer service from the employee Michael and Manager Brandon. This is not an isolated incident and has happened in a similar fashion before. To mitigate a customer's concern and brushing of their own responsibility is sad at best. While we have an understanding that a manager tries to stand by their employee, to gaslight events and mistreat a parent over the phone in the presence of their daughter who is in the store, is an unprofessional, despicable approach.
When my husband received a call out of the blue today from a personal phone line and the individual Michael demanded a passcode to access our account, naturally my husband was hesitant to provide that info. The guy got so pushy and rude and said:”I am not trying to social engineer you out of your password, though if you don’t give me your code your daughter won’t be able to register her phone.” My husband was still naturally being careful to not simply hand out a sensitive private info not knowing for a fact that he is a representative of the AT&T franchise store in Davis, California.
When I then called back directly to the AT&T store in Davis, the guy Michael answered and complained to me about my husband questioning his credibility. He started to argue and became rather rude in his demeanor. The manager Brandon disregarded my concerns and refused to let me talk to my daughter, who was in the store trying to register her new phone. It was simply unprofessional behavior and to act in such a gaslighting fashion in the presence of our daughter is misleading and crude at the very least. It lacks any basic human decency as well as discernment. We are in awe of how AT&T does not seem to hold their staff of franchise stores more accountable and ensures that the store employees who represent them is of the ethics and etiquette wich they stand for.
I also like to add as a general comment, what people practice privately regarding their beliefs: political/spiritual is one thing, though when a customer can tell that a team is incorporating that in their business that is a whole other story. When someone does not align with their belief/mindset and is treated as inferior, or worse as a less valuable human/customer, or nuisance that need to be taught a lesson, that is a great concern in itself. Such practices need to be addressed and can not be condoned, nor tolerated.
The bully mindset of the particular individuals, all the while our daughter and other customers were in the store is unacceptable. The question remains: “What was their true intent?”
To me certainly not to provide excellent customer service, nor to be supportive, or effective in helping our daughter to register successfully her phone to our account. It appears to us they got a certain joy to treat parents with humiliation in front of their daughter and have very little regard/respect for a valued customer or humanity. Office manager Tia gave fabulous attention and support to my 98-year-old father who needed a new phone. She even went the extra mile of helping him arrange a ride home when his arrangements had fallen through. We had a wonderful experience!

Reporting to local BBB for fraud today! This STORE MANAGER CALVIN has been a dishonest, unethical and insulting nightmare to work with regarding a device added to my bill without permission at this store. "It wasn't me" and "go ahead and call my boss" attitude. He even told my husband to "just stop paying your bill" if we have problems. Unbelievable demeanor.
