Phone handset

A stutter dial tone means you have waiting voicemail messages. You can check your voicemail messages from anywhere.

From any location

Heads up: If you’re away from home, call your home number first and then press * to skip the voicemail greeting.

  1. Press *98 on your keypad.
  2. Enter your mailbox PIN.
  3. Press 1 to listen. Then, use any of these options to navigate.
    • Press 1 to rewind.
    • Press 2 to pause
    • Press 3 to fast-forward.
    • Press # to skip a message.
  4. Choose from these options when the voicemail ends:
    • Press 9 to save the message.
    • Press 7 to delete the message. It will remain in your trash for 48 hours.
    • Press 6 to forward a copy of the message to a phone number or distribution list.

Call your access number

If you're not home, but someone may answer your home phone, you can use your access number to check for messages. Call your access number, enter your home phone number, and enter your mailbox PIN when prompted.

To find your voicemail access number:

  1. Go to the AT&T phone portal. Sign in with your member ID.
  2. Select Features.
  3. Choose Call forwarding to view it on the page.

If you don’t have any Call Forwarding options on, toggle one of the options On. You’ll see the access number listed next to Voicemail.

Online portal

Here’s how to check your messages within the phone portal:

  1. Go to the AT&T phone portal. Sign in with your member ID.
  2. Confirm you’re on the Voicemail tab.
  3. Listen to a message:
    • On your computer: Select the ellipsis icon for the message that you want to listen to, then Play voice message.
    • On a mobile device: Select the information icon for the message that you want to listen to, then select Play voice message.

Good to know: You can forward individual voicemails to a different voicemail inbox or to an email address. Select More options and choose the option you’d like and follow the prompts. If you have Voicemail transcription enabled, you can forward a voicemail as text to an email address.
