Add or delete access numbers for Connection Manager

As new or better access numbers become available, the numbers saved in your connections may be disabled. We’ll let you know if any changes affect you.


Find and add access numbers

The Connection Manager stores the phone numbers your computer uses to connect to our dial-up network. Ready to look for new access numbers? You have 2 options:

Search by area code (recommended)

Make sure you’re already connected to the network before you start.
  1. Go to the Connection Manager.
  2. In Find Access Numbers for Connection, select Find numbers by area code and prefix.
  3. Enter the area code and prefix, and then select Next.
  4. From Add Access Numbers to Connection, choose the number you want to add. Press the CTRL key on your keyboard to select more than one number.
  5. Select Add. You’ll see the numbers in the lower box.

Search by state
  1. Select the State option.
  2. Choose a state from the dropdown and Select Next.
  3. On Add Access Numbers to Connection, choose the number you want to add. Press the CTRL key on your keyboard to select more than one number.
  4. Select Add. The numbers display in the lower box.

Good to know: We regularly update the access number list. If your list is more than 30 days old, we’ll automatically update it. Or, you can get it yourself. Just choose Download New List from the Add Access Numbers to Connection screen.

Change access numbers

As we add, change, or remove dial-up access numbers, you may want to update your connections. Here’s how:
  1. From Add Access Numbers to Connection, select the number you want to replace.
  2. Select Remove.
  3. Select a new number and then Add.

Heads up
: When you access the AT&T dial-up network, your computer places a phone call. If you choose access numbers outside your local calling area, you may incur long-distance charges. You're responsible for all long-distance costs associated with how you use this AT&T service. If you have questions about possible charges for a number, contact your local telephone service provider.

Delete a connection

Not using all your connections? Remove the ones you don’t use from Connection Manager.
  1. Go to Connection Manager.
  2. Select Edit.
  3. Choose the connection to remove and select Delete.
  4. On the Confirm Delete window, select OK.

Good to know
: You must keep one functional connection in Connection Manager to access AT&T dial-up. If you try to delete your last connection, you'll see a warning message.
