Get your home network set up
To enjoy Whole-Home DVR service, you'll need an HD DVR for one of your TVs and HD-capable receivers for your other TVs. A DIRECTV technician installs and activates your receivers. Follow these steps to get your Whole-Home DVR network set up.
Name your receiver locations Naming each location makes managing settings easier in your Whole-Home network.
Go to your HD DVR and press MENU on your remote control.
Select Settings & Help > Settings > Whole-Home > Name Location.
Go to each receiver in your network and repeat steps 1-2.
Turn on playlist sharing settings There are several options available for sharing playlists between receivers. Turn on sharing to watch recordings on any TV in your Whole-Home network. You can turn off sharing and prevent other TVs from having access to different playlists. From this menu, you can also set up which receivers can delete shows from a playlist. Here is how to find the Share Playlist menu:
Go to any TV in the Whole-Home network and press MENU on your remote control.
