Use Voice search to find DIRECTV programming

Voice search lets you find any DIRECTV programming with the DIRECTV app for mobile devices. You can use this feature by simply saying what you would like to watch.

Find DIRECTV programming using the Voice feature

DIRECTV’s Voice feature is a great way to quickly find shows and movies without having to use your hands. All you have to do is open the DIRECTV app on your mobile device, activate the Voice feature, and say what you want to watch.

You can use DIRECTV’s Voice search feature at home or on the go. As an added bonus, you'll also see program recommendations tailored just for you based on your TV viewing and search history.

Note: To use Voice search on your TV, you'll need an HD DVR model HR24 or higher, and your mobile device and receiver must be joined to the same Wi-Fi network.

To use Voice search:
  1. Launch the DIRECTV app.
  2. Tap Voice in the bottom menu.
  3. Tap the microphone.
  4. Start speaking naturally, just as you would to another person. Example: Show me comedy movies. The results appear on your screen.
  5. Need to narrow your search? Voice remembers what you said last, so tap the mic and just say, for example, Starring Will Ferrell. Voice knows you're referring to comedy movies starring Will Ferrell.
  6. See the movie or show you want on your screen? Just tap it. Or, to see more search results, tap the arrow.

You have the option of viewing the search results either on your TV or on your mobile device. Voice search defaults to your mobile device, so if you want to see the results on your TV screen, just tap On TV to the left of the microphone.
