DIRECTV error code: 711

DIRECTV error code 711 indicates that your receiver may need to be activated, or your service refreshed.


Activate or refresh your receiver

Possible reasons for the 711 error:

  • Your receiver has not been activated for DIRECTV service.
  • Your receiver has received only part of the data it needs to decode our satellite signal.

If error code 711 appears when you are not watching a live or recorded show, your receiver may not be activated.

  1. Sign in to your DIRECTV account.  
  2. Select My Equipment.
  3. Select Activate next to the receiver(s).

Refresh/reset your receiver

If the error message appears when you’re watching a live or recorded show, your receiver is activated, but there may be an issue connecting to the satellite signal. Try refreshing your receiver.

If you’re still seeing the error message, try resetting your receiver:

  1. Unplug your receiver's power cord from the electrical outlet.
  2. Wait for 15 seconds then plug it back in.
  3. Press the Power button on the front panel of your receiver and let it reboot.  
  4. Refresh your service again, if necessary.
