DIRECTV error code: 711

DIRECTV error code 711 indicates that your receiver may need to be activated, or your service refreshed.


Activate or refresh your receiver

The 711 error might be due to:
  • Your receiver has not been activated for DIRECTV service.
  • Your receiver has received only part of the data it needs to decode our satellite signal.

If error code 711 appears when you are not watching a live or recorded show, your receiver may not be activated.
  1. Go to Account overview > My DIRECTV.
  2. Select Manage my plan.
  3. Select Manage & learn about equipment.
  4. Select Activate receiver.

Refresh/reset your receiver

If the error message appears when you’re watching a live or recorded show, your receiver is activated, but it might still be downloading the data it needs to decode the DIRECTV satellite signal. Try refreshing your receiver.

If you’re still seeing the error message, try resetting your receiver:
  1. Unplug your receiver's power cord from the electrical outlet.
  2. Wait for 15 seconds then plug it back in.
  3. Press the Power button on the front panel of your receiver.
  4. Wait for your receiver to reboot.
  5. Refresh your service again.
