Requirements for 4K Ultra HD

If you are watching 4K programming without the proper equipment, an on-screen message appears: 

921 - This TV does not support viewing programs in 4K format. Please watch this program on a DIRECTV 4K Ready TV

To watch 4K on DIRECTV, you need the following:
  • An Internet-connected Genie HD DVR (Model HR54 and above).
  • A DIRECTV 4K Ready TV or a compatible 4K TV connected to the latest 4K Genie Mini.
  • Select and above DIRECTV package or Mas Latino and above En Español package.
  • Professionally installed DIRECTV 4K Ready TV to ensure the best results. Contact us to schedule an installation appointment.

Note
: If you have a DIRECTV 4K Ready TV and set it up as the primary TV in your Whole Home network, we strongly recommend that you connect your Genie HD DVR to a secondary 4K TV. You will not be able to enjoy DIRECTV 4K programming on the DIRECTV 4K Ready TV if it’s connected to the Genie HD DVR.
