Use the Locast app on DIRECTV receivers to watch local channels

Learn how to create an account for the Locast app in order to watch local channels on certain internet-connected DIRECTV receivers.

Locast is a free app available on internet-connected receivers (HR34 and above) that lets you stream your local channels in the following markets:

To launch the Locast app, follow these steps:
  1. Using your DIRECTV remote, press the Right arrow to open apps and scroll to Locast. (Available in select markets only)

  2. A one-time activation code appears on screen - go to locast.org/activate to register.

  3. Select Create Account and follow the prompts.
  4. After login, select Activate to enter the six-digit code from your TV screen to complete activation.
  5. On your TV screen, choose a channel to watch from the Locast Guide. Use the back button to return to the guide.
Heads up: Press EXIT on your remote to exit the app. DVR recording not available in the Locast app.
