How to stop or pause automatic payments

Pausing AutoPay

You can take a break from AutoPay for a month if you don’t want to automatically make your next payment. Keep in mind, you’ll still have to pay your bill by the due date. Automatic payments will resume as usual the next month. Here’s how to pause:
  1. Go to AutoPay.
  2. If you have more than one account, select the one you want to pause.
  3. Select Pause AutoPay and follow the prompts.
  4. To pause AutoPay for another AT&T service, repeat these steps.
Heads-up: You can’t pause AutoPay if your payment is scheduled within the next 2 days or if your service or credit status requires automatic payments.

Stopping AutoPay

You can stop AutoPay and pay your bill yourself online. If you want to get a paper bill in the mail, you’ll also have to cancel paperless billing. You can’t discontinue AutoPay if your service or credit status requires automatic payments.
  1. Go to AutoPay.
  2. If you have more than one account, select the one you want to stop.
  3. Toggle AutoPay Off.
  4. To stop AutoPay for another AT&T service, repeat these steps.
Keep in mind: You’ll get a late charge if you don’t pay your bill in full by the due date.
