If you use Windows Live Mail for email, you’ll have to update your email settings. Be sure to create a [secure mail key](https://www.att.com/support/article/email-support/KM1240308/ "Link opens in same window") to set up or update your AT&T email in Windows Live Mail. ## Set up Windows Live Mail for AT&T email Use these steps to set up your email for the first time or on a new computer. 1. From Windows Live Mail, select __Add e-mail account__. 2. Do the following: - Enter your full AT&T email address. - Enter your __secure mail key__ for your password. - Enter your name as you want it to display to others. - Select __Remember password__. 3. Select __Manually configure server settings for this e-mail account__, and then select __Next__. 4. Complete the Incoming Server section: - Account Type - Select __IMAP__ or __POP3__. - Incoming Server - Enter __imap.mail.att.net__ (IMAP) or __inbound.att.net__ (POP3). - Select __This server requires a secure connection (SSL)__. - Make sure __Sign on using__ displays __Clear text authentication__. 5. Complete the Outgoing Server section: - Outgoing server - Enter __smtp.mail.att.net__ (IMAP) or __outbound.att.net__ (POP3). - Select __This server requires a secure connection (SSL)__ and __My outgoing server requires authentication__. 6. Select __Next__ and then __Finish__. Congratulations! You're ready to go. ## Verify or update settings for AT&T email Already have your email setup, but want to update your email account with your secure mail key? Here’s what you have to do: 1. Right click your AT&T email and select __Properties__. 2. On the General tab: - Verify your __Name__ and __Email address__. - Make sure __Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing__ is checked. 3. Select the Servers tab: - Confirm __POP3__ or __IMAP__ displays for incoming mail server. - Check that the Incoming Mail Server has the correct email address. - Enter or paste your __secure mail key__ in the Password field. - Make sure Remember password is checked. - Confirm __My server requires authentication__ is selected for Outgoing Mail server. 4. Select Outgoing Mail Server __Settings__ and confirm the following: - Incoming server: __imap.mail.att.net__ (IMAP) or __inbound.att.net__ (POP3) - Outgoing mail server: __smtp.mail.att.com__ (IMAP) or __outbound.att.net__ (POP3) 5. Select the __Advanced__ tab and confirm the following: - Incoming server - Enter __993__ (IMAP) or __995__ (POP3). - Use the following type of encrypted connection - __SSL__. - Outgoing server - Enter __465__ (IMAP and POP3). - Use the following type of encrypted connection - __SSL__. 6. Select __Apply__ and then __OK__.
