Get started with a 5G Wireless Internet Home Gateway

Learn how to set up and access the internet with your temporary 5G Wireless Internet Home Gateway.

Set up the gateway

Where you place the gateway affects the gateway's connection to our wireless network and the quality of service you receive. Make sure you check the signal strength to get the best experience.

  1. Place the gateway where you’d like it. The best place is on a shelf, near a window.
  2. Plug one end of the power supply into the gateway and the other end into a power outlet.
  3. Wait for the gateway to connect to the AT&T wireless network. This can take up to three minutes.
  4. Check your 4G and 5G LED status lights to make sure you have the best signal. If they are red or off, change locations until you get a better signal.
    • Green: Strong signal
    • Blue: Fair signal
    • Red: Weak signal

Change Wi-Fi name and password

  1. Go to the Web admin portal from a device connected to the gateway (Ethernet or Wi-Fi).
  2. Enter your password. If this is your first time signing in, the default password is admin. You may be asked to update your password once you sign in.
  3. Open Network and select Wi-Fi
  4. Enter the:
    • Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID)
    • Wi-Fi Password
  5. Select Save.

Good to know: If you have existing AT&T Fiber service, you can update the Wi-Fi name and password to match what you had with your Fiber gateway. Make sure you have the name and password of your existing network before you start. (If you have AT&T Wi-Fi Extenders, they won’t work with this gateway.)
