Set content controls with Smart Home Manager

Find out how to manage access to your internet. Create profiles, set time limits, and pause or restart internet for specific devices.

Control your internet access

Smart Home Manager comes with content controls on select Wi-Fi® gateways and All-Fi™ Hubs. These include the BGW320, BGW210, NVG599, Pace 5268AC, and All-Fi™ Hub (CGW450). You can use content controls to:

Create profiles: Assign devices to users on your Wi-Fi network.
Pause internet access: Turn off internet access by profile or device.
Set time limits: Schedule internet use restrictions by a specific profile.

FYI: If you have ActiveArmor^SM advanced internet security, you can use web and content filters to limit unwanted content for a specific profile, including kids and teens. You can also filter by categories such as entertainment and leisure or weapons and crime. (Advanced internet security is only available with the BGW320.)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

From your computer

Go to Smart Home Manager.
Select Network, then Connected Devices.
In Profiles:
- Choose the + sign to create a new profile, then enter a name
- Select the profile where you want to add devices
Choose devices from the available list.
Select Save.

With the Smart Home Manager app

Open the Smart Home Manager app.
Tap the X to exit your app shortcuts, if asked.
Select Profiles & devices and tap the device you want to add to a profile.
Tap the plus sign (+), then enter a name and choose devices.
Select Save.

If you don’t see a device you want to add, it may already be assigned to another profile.

Keep in mind: AT&T service equipment can’t be assigned to a profile. This includes equipment for:

Internet: Wi-Fi gateways, All-Fi Hubs, or Wi-Fi extenders
TV: Receivers, streaming players, routers, or extenders
Digital life security: Controllers, in-home tablets, or powerline adapters

From your computer

Go to Smart Home Manager.
Select Profiles and choose a profile to edit.
Choose Pause Internet. When you’re ready to grant access again, choose Resume.

With the Smart Home Manager app

Open the Smart Home Manager app.
Tap Profiles & devices and choose a profile to pause.
Select Pause Internet and select a pause duration. When you’re ready to grant access again, choose Resume Wi-Fi.

Good to know: When you pause internet access, devices for that profile can’t use your internet. However, smart devices connected to mobile networks outside of your network can still get online. You can also set Cellular downtime for devices on your wireless plan if your accounts are linked.

Yes, if you have ActiveArmor advanced internet security. You can filter content for a specific profile (only available with the BGW320).
From your computer

Go to Smart Home Manager.
Select Profiles then scroll to Advanced Content Controls.
Choose Content filters or Web filters.
Follow the prompts to control web content for this profile.

With the Smart Home Manager app

Open the Smart Home Manager app.
Tap Profile & devices and select the profile you to set up filters.
Scroll down and select Content filters.
Follow the prompts to control web content for this profile.
