Add AT&T Mobile Security & Call Protect

Learn how to start or stop the service. Plus, find out how to opt out of the fraud call blocking and spam alerts.

Set up AT&T Mobile Security & AT&T Call Protect

Already have one of these apps on your device? You can activate the services from either app. To get access to all features, make sure to download both.

Good to know:
  • Some Android® devices come with the apps preloaded.
  • When you download and activate Mobile Security, the network-based features of Call Protect are automatically enabled for incoming calls, even if you don’t have the app.
  • Have AT&T PREPAIDSM?
    • If you have an AT&T HD Voice-capable phone, we’ll add AT&T Mobile Security & Call Protect to your account automatically. You’ll get automatic fraud call blocking and spam alerts. You can also download the apps on your prepaid phone to customize and use more features. 
    • If you signed up for Plus before January 16, 2021, find out how to get the additional Call Protect Plus features.
If you have an iPhone®
  1. Download:
  2. Open AT&T Mobile Security or AT&T Call Protect and tap Next or Get Started.
  3. Enter your wireless number and select Continue. We’ll send you a free text with a PIN.
  4. Enter the PIN in the app.
  5. Tap Verify.
  6. Review details and accept the terms and conditions.
If you have an Android® phone
  1. Download:
  2. Open AT&T Mobile Security or AT&T Call Protect and tap Next or Get Started.
  3. Review the details and accept the terms and conditions.

Opt out online for fraud call blocking and spam alerts

For AT&T Wireless
  1. Go to your myAT&T account overview.
  2. Choose one of the following:
    • On a smartphone: Tap My wireless plan.
    • On a tablet or computer: Scroll to and select Manage my wireless.
  3. Select Get or manage add-ons and then select which phone is opting out.
  4. Choose AT&T Mobile Security & Call Protect.
  5. Select Opt out of AT&T Mobile Security & Call Protect to stop fraud call blocking.
For AT&T PREPAID
Have the Plus upgrade to Call Protect? First, go to the app on your phone and delete the subscription.
  1. Sign in to att.com/myprepaid.
  2. Choose Profiles & Settings, then choose Feature Settings.
  3. Change the setting for fraud call blocking.

Downgrade, deactivate, or uninstall the apps

Downgrade Mobile Security & Call Protect Plus

Downgrade from your iPhone or Android phone
  1. In Mobile Security or Call Protect, go to Settings.
  2. Tap Account. If you have an iPhone, tap Change Service.
  3. Choose AT&T Mobile Security & Call Protect $0.00.
  4. Select Lock Plus Features.
  5. If you have an iPhone, tap Lock. You’ll get a message confirming that you’re now using the free version.
Stop billing from AT&T on your iPhone
  1. Go to your iPhone Settings.
  2. Scroll to and tap iTunes & App Store.
  3. Choose Apple ID and then View Apple ID.
  4. Enter your Apple ID and password.
  5. Select Subscriptions and then AT&T Mobile Security & Call Protect.
  6. Choose Cancel subscription and then Confirm.
This removes the Mobile Security and Call Protect Plus subscription from your account. You’ll still have access to all free features from both services.

Deactivate Plus and remove the basic service

  1. Go to Settings in Mobile Security or Call Protect.
  2. Tap Account and choose Remove Service.
  3. Choose one of the following:
    • On your iPhone - confirm that you want to remove AT&T Mobile Security and Call Protect.
    • On an Android phone - select AT&T Mobile Security & Call Protect.
  4. Tap Remove to finish up.

Uninstall the apps

First, use myAT&T or from either app to remove the subscriptions for each service from your account through. Then, uninstall the apps from your device.

Just uninstalling the Mobile Security and Call Protect apps doesn’t remove the services from your account. It also won’t deactivate network-based fraud blocking or stop billing for AT&T Mobile Security & Call Protect Plus.
