Minimum system requirements

Make sure you have the following equipment so you can use our internet service:
  • A capable computer - Your computer should meet the recommended requirements for your internet service. See applicable system requirements section. 
  • A Wi-Fi® gateway or AT&T-compatible DSL modem - These are the devices that get your computer online. With a Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or USB connection, your home computers can securely connect to and share your internet.
  • Line filters - They connect to your phone jacks if you have DSL service.

Important: These factors can also affect your internet speed
  • Number of devices connected to the internet
  • Computer processor type, memory (RAM), or hard drive
  • Any other connected devices between your computer and the gateway or modem
  • Number of programs in use on your computer at the same time
  • Browser types and plug-ins
  • Network congestion

Minimum system requirements for Fixed Wireless and DSL Internet

  • 1GB of memory (RAM) - For the best high-speed experience, we recommend that you have at least 1GB of memory.
  • Ethernet port - An Ethernet port looks like a wider and bigger phone jack port. If you don't have an Ethernet port on your computer, you must install a 10 Base-T Ethernet NIC card.
