Use parental controls with Smart Home Manager

Manage your family’s screen time at home.

Take control of your home internet

Smart Home Manager comes with parental controls on select Wi-Fi® gateways. These include models BGW210, NVG599, and Pace 5268AC. You can use parental controls to:
  • Create profiles: Assign devices to users on your home network.
  • Block internet access: Choose a profile or device and disable internet access.
  • Set time limits: Select a profile and schedule home internet use restrictions.

Create profiles

It’s a snap to assign devices to a profile. From the Smart Home Manager:
  1. Select Network, then Connected Devices.
  2. In Profiles, choose the + sign and enter a name for the profile.
  3. Choose devices from the available list to assign to the profile.
  4. Select Save.

If you don’t see a device you want to add, it’s probably already assigned to another profile. Want to delete a profile? Just select Delete.

Keep in mind: AT&T equipment that controls your service can’t be assigned to a profile.
This includes equipment for:
  • Internet: Wi-Fi gateways or extenders
  • TV: Receivers, streaming players, routers, or extenders
  • Digital Life security: Controllers, in-home tablets, or powerline adapters

Apply profile filters and limits

Pause internet access for a profile

From your Profiles:
  1. Choose the profile to edit.
  2. Select Pause Internet. When you’re ready to grant access again, just choose the Pause button again.

Good to know
: When you block internet access, devices on that profile can’t use your home internet. However, smart devices connected to mobile networks can still get online.

Set time limits

From your Profiles:
  1. Choose the profile to edit.
  2. Turn Downtime Schedule on.
  3. Select the calendar to set specific days for downtime.
  4. Choose the clock to assign times for downtime.
  5. Select Save.
