[AT&T Internet](https://www.att.com/support/internet/) # Attach images and files to emails Learn how to add, remove, or view email attachments in AT&T Mail. * * * ## Add or remove attachments and images Want to send documents or pictures to your coworkers or family? Learn how to send files, attach images, open attachments in emails you receive, or troubleshoot attachment issues. ### Add or remove attachments To add an attachment in webmail: 1. While composing an email, select the __paperclip icon__ next to the __Send__ button. 2. From the selection window, browse to select the file you want to attach. 3. Select the file you want to attach and select __Open__. To attach multiple files at once, hold down the __Ctrl__ key as you select the files. 4. Check the bottom of your message for an image or icon of each file you attached. 5. Select __Send__ when you’re finished with your message. Want to remove an attachment? Hover over the attachment and select the black __X__. To remove all attachments, select __Remove All__. ### Add inline images To insert an image directly into the body of an email message: 1. On your computer, find the image or animated GIF you want to add. 2. Select the location in the message where you want to place the image. 3. Drag and drop the image file into the email. The image is now part of the body of your email, not just an attached file. Here’s what to know about using inline images: - Image sizes are optimized for inline display. Want to send the image in its original size? Send it as an attachment instead. - The __Photos__ folder under __Views__ includes all the images you’ve sent or received in your AT&T Mail account. - Depending on your browser, you may be able to copy and paste images instead of dragging and dropping them. ### Download an attachment Here’s how: 1. Open the email. 2. Select the attachment and then choose __Save__ or __Download__ (depending on your email program or browser) to save it to your device. While browsing your email on currently.com, you can also see your attachments before downloading them by selecting __Show Images__. It could be a problem with your browser settings, the file size or name, or unsupported file encryption. Try these tips to resolve your problems. ### Check browser settings First, make sure you're using one of our [supported browsers](https://www.att.com/support/article/email-support/KM1010161/ "Link opens in same window"). Then, try [clearing your cookies and cache](https://www.att.com/support/article/email-support/KM1010153/ "Link opens in same window"). Can’t find downloaded attachments and basic browser troubleshooting didn’t help? Check your browser download settings. You’ll find them in your browser’s Options, Tools, or Preferences menu. Once you’re there, just change your download settings and select where you want to save your downloads. ### Reduce file size You can attach up to 50 files to an email message with a maximum total message size of 25MB. Want to send larger files? Try using a free file-hosting service like [Dropbox](http://www.dropbox.com/ "Link opens in new window") or [YouSendIt](http://www.yousendit.com/ "Link opens in new window"). ### Remove special characters from a file name Make sure you haven't used any special characters (like #, $, /, or @) in your file name. These characters can cause problems in sending. ### Reformat encrypted files Attachment garbled or doesn’t open? It may be in an encrypted format. Encryption only works if both the sender and recipient have the key to decode it. Ask the sender for an unencrypted file.
