Making 911 emergency calls

Calls to 911 with digital phone service are made exactly like those using traditional phone service.  However, since Phone is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service, during power outages, you will not be able to call 911 for emergency service unless you have purchased a home battery backup system.

If your power goes out	911 service is available if you have battery backup power	911 service is available if your telephone does not require electricity
If your broadband network goes down	No service	Service available

Note: Some state and local agencies require VoIP providers to collect a fee for 911 calling capability. If you live in an area where fees are required, those fees will be added to your monthly bill.
