Put your service on Vacation Hold

Going on vacation or away for a while? Find out how to temporarily suspend your service.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

It costs up to $7 per month for each service or phone line you place on hold (Military and Disaster Hold pay $0/month). The changes will take up to two bill periods to appear on your bill. To help manage your bill sign up for AutoPay.

If any of these charges apply, be sure to pay them:

Internet equipment fees
Maintenance plan fees
On Demand purchases or Pay-Per-View charges
Any remaining payment for premium packages ordered before placing your TV service on hold
Applicable fees, taxes, or surcharges

If you have AT&T Internet, AT&T Phone, or U-verse TV

Have a combination of internet, phone, or U-verse TV service? You’ll have to put each one on hold. You can place all other AT&T services on Vacation Hold as needed. For example, if you have AT&T Internet and AT&T Phone, you can keep U-verse TV active, but you’ll have to suspend AT&T Internet and Phone together.

You can put your service on Vacation Hold twice within a 12-month period. The minimum time you can suspend service is 2 months and the maximum is 9 months.

You’ll have to meet these requirements to place your service on hold:

Account in good standing
Active service for at least 30 days
Start date between 10 and 30 days from the day you request the hold
Restoration of service between 60 and 270 days from the start date

If you have DSL or landline home phone

When you place your service on hold, it won’t be available for use and your home Wi-Fi® won’t work until we restore your service. You don’t have to do anything with your equipment.

AT&T Fiber or AT&T Internet service

Good news! You can still use your current email IDs to hop on our Wi-Fi network when you’re away from home.

AT&T Phone service

If you have a combined bill with AT&T Phone on it, then AT&T Phone service won’t be available.
If you have a combined bill and AT&T Phone isn’t on it, you can get incoming calls and access to voicemail.
- Outbound calls, other than to 911 or to toll-free numbers, may incur a per-minute fee.
- Other charges may apply for calls to directory listing services and directory assistance.
- You can keep your current phone number, maintenance plan, and directory listing.
If you have a monitored home alarm that makes outbound calls, these calls will continue to work while your phone service is on Vacation Hold. Please confirm with your alarm company if a toll-free number is used. If not, the outbound calls won’t work.

U-verse TV service

While you can’t watch your recordings when your service is on Vacation Hold, we’ll save them for you. You can get your recorded programs when your service is restored.
DVR recording and playback won’t be available on U-verse TV or the U-verse app.

Your billing will resume at either the:

Same rate for your current plan.
Current rate if you make changes to your plan.
Promo rate if the promotion is still running. For example, you have a 12-month promo offer and you place your service on Vacation Hold for 6 months during that period. You’ll pay the Vacation Hold fee for 6 months and get the promo discount for the other 6 months.
