[AT&T Wireless](https://www.att.com/support/wireless/) # Manage device groups in the AT&T app Use device groups in the AT&T app to organize your devices and manage settings for multiple devices at once. * * * About groupsAbout groupsGroup actionsGroup actions ### Learn about device groups Device groups help you organize devices, such as kids’ devices or work phones. You can apply settings like downtime to the whole group at one time. Access your device groups from the home screen or in the Controls section of the AT&T app. __Good to know:__ Only account owners and authorized users can create or manage device groups. ### Create a new device group You can create up to six device groups per account. Each group must have at least one device. 1. Open the AT&T app. 2. Scroll to Groups and devices and tap __Create device group__. 3. Choose an image and enter a name for the group. 4. Check the devices to include. You can filter by device type to narrow the list, if available. 5. Tap __Save new device group__. ### Edit a device group You can edit a group at any time: - Change the __group image__ by tapping the image on the __Group detail__ page. - Rename the group by editing the __Group name__ field. - Add or remove devices by tapping __Edit__ next to __Devices in group__ and checking or unchecking devices. (Removing a device from a group doesn’t remove it from your account. It just changes how it’s organized in the app.) Make sure you __Save changes__ to apply your updates. ### Delete a device group Don’t need a group any longer? It’s simple to remove: 1. Open the group and tap __Delete device group__. 2. Select __Confirm__. Deleting a group doesn’t delete the devices or cancel service. It just removes the group. ### Pause connections Pausing a connection stops internet and cellular data access for devices. You can pause individual devices or you can create a group and pause connections for all devices in that group. Use it to manage screen time or set focus periods. (If you have internet with another provider, Wi-Fi® may still work.) 1. Open the __Group details__ and locate __Pause connections__. 2. Tap __Pause devices__. 3. Choose a time: __30 minutes__, __1 hour__, or __24 hours__. To turn the connection back on, tap __Resume__ for the group. __Important:__ When connections are paused, devices can’t use cellular data for internet access. Emergency (911) calling is still available. ### Downtime schedules Downtime lets you schedule times when connections are paused a group. Use this option for setting bedtime routines or homework hours. 1. Open the group. 2. Tap __Create new downtime schedule__. 3. Enter a name for the schedule. 4. Select the days of the week. 5. Choose times the downtime __Starts__ and __Ends__. 6. Tap __Save downtime__. You can turn a schedule on or off from the group detail page. To edit or delete a schedule, select it from the list. __FYI:__ If schedules overlap, the group stays paused until all active schedules end. * * * ## FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS [Expand All](https://www.att.com) * * * What happens if a device is in multiple groups and one group is paused? If a device is in a group with a paused connection, it will lose internet access, even if it’s also in a group that isn’t paused. The strictest rule applies. Does pausing a connection affect calls and text messages? Pausing a connection stops internet and cellular data access. Calls and text messages should still work on cellular-capable devices.
