Turn Find My on or off for your device

The Find My option is a simple way to track your devices. Keep it turned on to help find a device that is lost or stolen.

Apple

From your Home screen:

  1. Tap Settings, then tap your name, and then tap Find My.
  2. Tap Find My Phone.
  3. Slide to turn Find My iPhone, Find My network, and Send Last Location on or off. Sign in with your Apple ID, if asked.

Android

Before you start, make sure you have your screen lock enabled, and a Google account added.

  1. Swipe down from the Notification bar, then select the Settings icon.
  2. Scroll to and select Google, then tap Find My Device.
  3. Make sure the Find My Device switch is in the On position.

Find a lost device

If you had Find My services turned on, sign in to the associated account from another device and follow the prompts:

Learn what to do if you can’t find your device

Important: If you’re returning, selling, or giving away your device, you must turn off Find My for your device. You’ll have to erase all content and settings from your device before handing it over. Keep in mind, erasing this will completely erase your device, turn off Find My, and remove the device from your account. Failure to disable Activation locks will result in a significant reduction in trade-in value.

Apple

  1. Tap Settings, then tap your name.
  2. Select Find My and turn Find My iPhone Off.

Device reset: You can also disable Find My iPhone/ iPad by resetting your device. From your Settings, select General, then Reset, and Erase All Content and Settings.

Android

  1. Go to your phone Settings.
  2. Tap Cloud and Accounts (or User Accounts).
  3. Select your Account Type.
  4. Tap the Menu Icon, then Remove Account.
  5. Tap Remove Account again (enter your device passcode if asked).
  6. Repeat steps to remove ALL Active Accounts from device.
