Learn how to get your device running on our network. It can be one you bought from us or a compatible and unlocked device you already own.


Download an eSIM and activate your device

To complete activation of an eSIM for AT&T Wireless, make sure it’s on an active plan, then download it over Wi-Fi®.
  1. Turn your device on.

Good to know:
  • Activating a new iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max? You may need to update your software.
  • Transferring your device to AT&T? You’ll have to request a new eSIM.
  • Have an AT&T PREPAID plan? Contact us to activate your eSIM

Activate your device with a physical SIM

Many devices use a physical SIM card that comes with your new device. It often has the SIM card inserted. If you use a different SIM, you might not be able to access our wireless network or take advantage of all network features.

If your SIM isn’t already inserted, learn how to put it in.
  1. Go to Device Support.
  2. Choose your device.
  3. Scroll to Getting started and select Hardware & phone details.
  4. Choose Insert or remove SIM card and follow the steps.
If you’re upgrading your device or transferring your number from another provider, you’ll have to activate your new SIM. Let's activate it now

Get a new phone and a new number? You’re likely already activated. Turn on your device and make a test call. If you can’t make a call, activate your device.
