Use voicemail on your mobile phone

Learn how to check Visual Voicemail messages on your mobile phone or call to listen to your voicemail.


Access messages

Visual Voicemail are messages that download to your smartphone over a wireless cellular data connection1. If you have:

  • An Apple® iPhone® or Google® smartphone: Open the Phone app, tap Voicemail, then tap the message you want to hear. (Some iPhones using iOS® 10 and above may also provide a transcript of your voicemail messages.)
  • A Samsung® smartphone: Open the Visual Voicemail app and choose the voicemail you want to hear.
  • An Android® smartphone with the AT&T Visual Voicemail app: Tap the AT&T Visual Voicemail app then choose the message you want to listen to.

Manage notifications

You can update visual voicemail notifications and alerts for iPhone, Samsung, and Google smartphones in the device Settings. View voicemail tutorials for your device

If you have the AT&T Visual Voicemail app:

  1. Open the app.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Tap Notifications to turn alerts on or off.

Visual Voicemail messages download to your smartphone over a wireless cellular data connection. You can also call to access your voicemail messages.

Call voicemail to listen to messages

If you have an AT&T Wirelessâ„  phone or an AT&T Wireless Home Phone:

  1. Press and hold 1 on your phone’s keypad.
  2. Enter your voicemail password, if prompted. Any new unheard messages will begin to play.

FYI: You can also check your messages from another phone by calling your 10-digit wireless number, then pressing the * key when you hear your voicemail greeting. Follow the prompts to access your voicemail messages.

Here’s how to access common voicemail options:

  • Press * for the main menu
  • Press 9 to save a message
  • Press 0 then 4 to replay a message
  • Press 7 to delete a message
  • Press 0 for more options
