You need to know your voicemail password before you go. * * * ## Access voicemail while traveling __Before your trip__ Before you leave for your international trip: - Know your voicemail password. If you forgot it, [reset your voicemail password](https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1008971 "Link opens in the same window"). - [Confirm your device works when roaming internationally](https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1009436 "Link opens in the same window"). - If you have a smartphone with Visual Voicemail, learn how to [connect to cellular data networks while traveling abroad](https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1009440 "Link opens in the same window") to download your voicemail messages. - International roaming charges apply to calls to voicemail and downloads of Visual Voicemail messages outside the AT&T wireless domestic coverage area. International and domestic off-net (roaming) data usage may be at 2G speeds. ## Main steps __Check Visual Voicemail messages while traveling__ When using Visual Voicemail while traveling be aware of the following: - Visual Voicemail downloads to your device over cellular data whether you're in the U.S. or traveling abroad. - International data roaming charges apply to Visual Voicemail messages downloaded to your device while traveling outside the U.S. - You can also call your voicemail and access it by entering your voicemail password from your own or another phone while traveling. __Call voicemail while traveling internationally__ To check your voicemail messages from your wireless phone while traveling outside the United States: 1. Press and hold __1__ on your AT&T wireless phone. 2. If you reach the main voicemail system greeting, enter your __10-digit wireless phone number__, then interrupt your greeting by pressing the __* key__. 3. Enter your __voicemail password__ and follow the voice prompts. __Call voicemail from another phone while travelling__ To check your voicemail messages from another phone while traveling internationally: 1. Turn off your wireless phone if it's with you to avoid roaming charges. 2. Dial __+1__ followed by your __10-digit wireless number__. 3. When you hear your voicemail greeting, interrupt it by pressing the __* key__. 4. If you reach the main voicemail system greeting, enter your __10-digit wireless phone number__, then interrupt your greeting by pressing the __* key__. 5.
