By default, the system requires a password when you call to access voicemail:
  • For your security, we recommend you leave this password requirement on.
  • For increased security, change your voicemail password periodically.
  • This helps prevents unauthorized voicemail access from your own or another phone.

Know or reset your current voicemail password
You must enter your current voicemail password before you can turn it off. If you don't know it, reset your voicemail password.

Main steps

Turn voicemail password on or off
Call the voicemail system to enable or disable the voicemail password requirement:
  1. From your AT&T wireless phone, press and hold 1.
  2. If you have AT&T Wireless Home Phone, dial 1 from your connected home phone.
  3. If prompted, enter your voicemail password.
  4. If you have new messages, press the * key to skip to the Main Menu.
  5. In the Main Menu, press 4 for Personal Options.
  6. Press 2 for Administrative Options.
  7. Press 1 for Password Options.
  8. Press 2 to Turn Password On or Off.
  9. Follow the prompts.
