Manage Call Protect options

Enable Unknown Callers

Send callers you haven’t saved to your contact list directly to voicemail. Here’s how:
  1. Open the app and tap Block.
  2. Tap Unknown Callers and read the requirements for this feature.
  3. Tap Send to Voicemail.
  4. Tap Enable to agree to the terms. Your contact list will start uploading.
  5. Keep the app open until you see Unknown Callers set to Voicemail.

All other call categories or numbers you choose to block (like fraud and spam) will stay blocked. We’ll send all other numbers you haven’t stored in your contact list to voicemail. These numbers may include emergency responders.

Good to know:
  • You must have an active mailbox for this feature to work.
  • We’ll update any changes to your contact list every 24 hours for Android® devices and when the app is opened on iOS devices.
  • We’ll remove your contact list, from the cloud, within 48 hours when you turn off this feature by setting it to Allow.

Block Spam Risk calls

  1. Open the app and tap Block.
  2. Tap Spam Risk and choose Send to Voicemail or Block

Keep in mind:

  • We’ll send calls flagged as Spam Risk to voicemail or block them, based on your selection.
  • All other nuisance calls (private, account services, telemarketers, surveys, political calls, or nonprofit) will ring through with a warning if you don’t have a subscription to AT&T Call Protect Plus.

Add callers to your personal block list

  1. Open the app and tap Block.
  2. Tap My Block List then + or Add.
  3. Choose one of the following:
    • Enter a number: Type in the number you want to block and tap the block symbol.
    • Select from contacts: Check the box for the contact you want to block and tap the block symbol.
    • Select from your Call Protect call log: Check the box for the number you want to block and tap the block symbol.

Good to know:
  • You can only block callers who hide their caller IDs if you have Call Protect Plus.
  • We’ll still automatically block potential fraud calls. When private callers hide their numbers and the app flags those calls as fraud or spam, we’ll display those calls as 000-000-0000 on the caller ID.
  • If your phone has a block list feature, the numbers you block in the AT&T Call Protect app won’t show on that list and vice versa.

Unblock callers

  1. Open the app and go to the Block tab (it’s a red circle with a slash through it).
  2. Find and tap on the call that was blocked.
  3. Select Unblock.
