Activate an AT&T Certified Pre-Owned phone

You can activate online if you’re replacing a phone or setting up a new account.

Can I activate an AT&T Certified Pre-owned phone online?
Yes, if you’re:
  • Setting up a new account
  • Adding a line to a current account
  • Replacing a phone on an existing account

Setup info

It’s best to use the SIM card that came with your device. Make sure it’s inserted into the phone and the device is on. Want help inserting your SIM card? View our device tutorial.

Then, see if your SIM is active. Try to make a call or browse the web without using Wi-Fi®. If you can, you're good to go. If not, try this:
  1. Go to activate your wireless device.
  2. Select the option for AT&T wireless or AT&T PREPAIDSM
  3. Enter the requested info and select Continue.
  4. Follow the prompts to finish up.

Heads up: To activate an eSIM for AT&T PREPAID, contact us or visit your local AT&T store.
