Important cloud storage change

The AT&T Backup & Sync terms have changed and message storage is now for up to 90 days.

How to check your voicemails and messages

The AT&T Backup & Sync service backs up your text and picture messages in the AT&T cloud so that they can be downloaded to your next phone. You can also send texts from your tablet, wearable, or computer using your mobile number. Visit AT&T Messages Backup & Sync to view a list of smartphones that support AT&T Messages Backup & Sync.

The Backup & Sync terms have changed and message storage is now for up to 90 days. Messages older than 90 days will be deleted from the cloud.

Note: Messages won’t be deleted from your phone. Messages can include text/picture messages or voicemail if you used the AT&T Messages app.

Main steps

Listen to voicemail and read messages before deletion
Messages and any voicemails over 90 days old will be deleted from the cloud. Go to on your tablet or computer and follow the steps below to listen to and read your messages before the date mentioned in the text message you received.
  1. Read messages and listen to any voicemails that may not be on your phone. Voicemail will only appear within conversations in the “All” tab, not in the “Voicemail” tab.
  2. To save messages, forward them to your email address.

Keep your messages stored in the AT&T cloud
You don’t have to do anything - text and picture messages will automatically be stored in the cloud for up to 90 days beginning on the date mentioned in the text message you received.

Stop your messages from being stored in the AT&T cloud
If you don’t want your messages stored in the AT&T cloud, you can do one of the following after the date listed in the message you received:
  • Sign in to myAT&T and remove AT&T Messages Backup & Sync from the mobile number that has the Service (option not available to business accounts).
  • From the Messaging application on your smartphone, select Settings > AT&T Messages Backup & Sync, then choose Stop Backup (option available on smartphones that support Backup & Sync).
