Stream HBO Max with some AT&T unlimited plans

Find out if you can get HBO Max for no extra charge with your unlimited plan. Plus, learn how to access HBO Max.

DETAILED STEPS

First, confirm if your unlimited plan includes HBO

Eligible plans
If you have one of the following unlimited plans, you get HBO MaxTM included with it. But, you might have to activate it on your account first. Not sure which plan you have? Check your account to view your current plan.

Eligible unlimited plans:
  • AT&T Unlimited Elite
  • AT&T Unlimited PlusSM
  • AT&T Unlimited Plus EnhancedSM
  • AT&T Unlimited ChoiceSM
  • AT&T Unlimited Choice IISM
  • AT&T Unlimited Choice EnhancedSM
  • AT&T Unlimited &More℠ Premium (if you chose HBO® as your premium channel)
Heads up: Have 2 or more wireless accounts with different IDs? If so, be sure to sign in with each account to confirm which ID is tied to your HBO Max subscription benefit.

If your plan isn’t eligible for HBO Max
View your current plan and change it.

Next, set up HBO Max on select unlimited plans

AT&T Unlimited Elite
  1. Go to your myAT&T account overview from a web browser.
  2. Select one of the following:
    • Go to my account
    • Get started with the HBO Max logo and then follow the prompts
    • Start watching HBO Max under See what’s on TV.

AT&T Unlimited &More Premium
  1. Sign in at attwatchtv.com to confirm that you already chose your premium.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • If you haven’t chosen your premium, to go your myAT&T account overview and select Pick my premium. Then choose HBO and follow the prompts. Don’t see Pick my premium? Go to attwatchtv.com/verify. Confirm your wireless plan, and then choose HBO as your premium. Next, go to the Finally, sign in to HBO Max section of this article.
    • If you’ve chosen your premium and it’s HBO, get the HBO Max app and sign in to your myAT&T account overview with your AT&T user ID and password. (If it's another channel, you can change it after 12 months after you chose it.)

Other select AT&T unlimited plans

From an Apple® or Android® phone or tablet
  1. Download and open the HBO Max app. Then tap the person icon (or try to play a show or movie.)
  2. Tap Sign In and then tap SIGN IN THROUGH TV OR MOBILE PROVIDER.
  3. Have an Apple iPhone® or iPad®? Does your TV service with AT&T include free HBO Max access? Then tap Allow. If you don't, tap Don’t Allow.
  4. Choose AT&T and enter your AT&T ID and password.
  5. Select Sign in.
  6. If it’s your first time signing in, create your HBO Max profile. It may take up to 1 minute.
  7. Choose your watcher’s profile to start streaming.
From a web browser
  1. Go to hbomax.com, then select SIGN IN.
  2. Select SIGN IN THROUGH TV OR MOBILE PROVIDER.
  3. Choose AT&T and Enter the AT&T user ID and password.
  4. Select Sign in.
  5. If it’s your first time signing in, create your HBO Max profile. It may take up to 1 minute.
  6. Choose your watcher’s profile to start streaming.
From AT&T TVSM, Apple TV®, Smart TV, or a compatible streaming device
  1. Download and open the HBO Max app. Or, if you have AT&T TV:
    • Look for the app on your device; it's already there.
    • Go to channel 190 or 500 to access the app from the Guide.
  2. Select Sign In (or try to play a show or movie). You should see a 6-digit code on your screen.
  3. Go to hbomax.com/tvsignin from a web browser.
  4. Enter the 6-digit code when prompted, and then select Next.
  5. Go to the app and choose SIGN IN THROUGH TV OR MOBILE PROVIDER.
  6. Do you have Apple TV and get free HBO Max access because of your TV service with AT&T? Then tap Allow. If not, tap Don’t Allow.
  7. Choose AT&T and enter the AT&T user ID and password. 
  8. Select Sign in. You should see HBO Max load on your AT&T TV screen.
  9. If it’s your first time signing in, create your HBO Max profile. It may take up to 1 minute.
  10. Choose your watcher’s profile to start streaming.
