Update your AT&T PREPAID plan

Looks like you’re using a data device with a plan intended for a smartphone. To avoid losing access to data service, you must change to a data only plan.

Single (individual) line account

Here’s how to change your plan:
  1. Go to att.com/myprepaid.
  2. At the top of the page, select Plans.
  3. Find the data only plan you’d like to move to. Next to the rate plan you’d like to use, select Change to this plan (data only plans include Tablet & Hotspot).
  4. Follow the prompts to change your plan.
Important: Payment for the new plan will be due immediately. As such, we suggest making the change at the end of your plan cycle.

Family plan: Multi-Line member account

Data only plans aren’t available with Family Plan (Multi-Line). Have a member on your account that needs to change to a data only plan? They must return to an individual line first. Here’s how:
  1. Sign in to att.com/myprepaid.
  2. Select the up or down arrow on the Member Lines section to view all lines on the account.
  3. Choose the member line you want to change back to an individual line by selecting the up or down arrows.
  4. Select Remove to proceed.
  5. Read the important info and then select Continue. The line change happens immediately.
Then, the member must follow the process for an individual line account to change to a data only plan.

Family Plan: Multi-Line account owner

Data only plans aren’t available with Family Plan (Multi-Line). If you’re the owner of a Multi-Line account and need to change your line to a data only plan, you’ll have to return all members on your account and then your line, to an individual line. Here’s how:
  6. Repeat for all member lines and then for the owner line.
  7. Complete the process to update an individual line.
