Transfer contacts to or from basic phones

Learn how to transfer contacts between basic or feature phones.

Check your operating system

Make sure your basic phone uses KaiOS. Here’s how:
  1. Go to your phone Settings.
  2. Select Device, then Device Information.
  3. Choose More Information. Look at the OS Version. If you see KaiOS, these instructions will work

Export contacts from a KaiOS basic phone

Use a Memory card or Bluetooth

  1. Go to Contacts (press the Right Menu key on the home screen).
  2. Highlight any contact.
  3. Press the Right Menu key for Options.
  4. Select Settings, then Export contacts.
  5. Choose Memory card or Bluetooth.
  6. Follow the prompts to finish up.

Move contacts from phone memory to a SIM Card

Note: To add contacts to a KaiOS phone, you need to have an orange SIM card. You won’t be able to add contacts to a blue SIM card. Go to Contacts (press the Right Menu key on the home screen).
  1. Highlight any contact.
  2. Press the Right Menu key for Options.
  3. Select Copy Contacts, then Phone Memory.
  4. Choose SIM memory, then select the contacts you want to transfer (press the Left Menu key to select All).

Import contacts to a KaiOS basic phone

Get contacts from Gmail or Outlook

  1. Go to Contacts (press the Right Menu key on the home screen).
  2. Highlight any contact.
  3. Press the Right Menu key for Options.
  4. Select Settings, then Import Contacts.
  5. Choose Gmail or Exchange.
  6. Follow the prompts to finish up.

Move contacts from a memory card to your phone

Note: Check to make sure you have an orange SIM card. You can’t save contacts to a blue SIM card.
  1. Go to Contacts (press the Right Menu key on the home screen).
  2. Select any contact.
  3. Press the Right Menu key for Options.
  4. Select Settings, then Import Contacts.
  5. Choose Memory Card.
  6. Follow the prompts to finish up.

Use Bluetooth to get contacts

  1. Go to Contacts (press the Right Menu key on the home screen).
  2. Highlight any contact.
  3. Press the Right Menu key for Options.
  4. Select Settings, then Import Contacts.
  5. Choose Bluetooth.
  6. Follow the prompts to finish up.
