How do I set a wireless adapter to use the same wireless channel as my Versalink 327W modem?

Learn how to set a wireless adapter to use the same wireless channel as the Versalink 327W modem.

ArticleDETAILED STEPS

Set a wireless adapter to use the same wireless channel as the Versalink 327W modem

Note: If the wireless card is configured correctly, it should automatically find the channel used by the Versalink 327W and set itself to use that channel. If this is not the case:
  1. Perform a 10 second power cycle on the Versalink 327W.
  2. Check the wireless settings on the Versalink 327W and determine the wireless channel, Network Name (SSID) and encryption method used by the Versalink 327W.
The default channel used is 6. The default Network Name (SSID) is WESTXXXX, where XXXX is the last 4 digits of the Versalink 327W serial number at the bottom. The default encryption method is WEP using a pre-generated 128-bit key.
  3. Reconfigure the wireless client on the machine using the Wireless adapter, making sure the network name and encryption code matches that found in the Versalink 327W's wireless settings.
The encryption code not matching will not affect the channel selected by the adapter. It will find the signal, but you will not be able to browse the internet.
  4. Once configured, re-check the wireless client to make sure the channel used by the wireless adapter now matches.
