Tips for Using Your Cell Phone at a Music Festival

Music festival season is upon us! We know you’re ready, but is your cell phone?

There are tons of great festivals all over the world… Coachella, Burning Man, South by Southwest, Tomorrowland, and the list goes on. Besides all of the festivals having amazing music, they also have one thing in common. People. Not just any people… People with their cell phones, trying to snap, stream and share every bit of their experience at these world-renowned music festivals. Keeping your cellphone charged, safe and actually useful can be a struggle when you’re trying to enjoy yourself. Luckily, we’ve come up with a few tips to help make using your cell phone at a music festival a little easier!

Bring a portable charger

Stashing a portable battery charger in your purse or fanny pack will save you during the long days at a festival. You’ll be able to snap all the pics and record all of your favorite acts if you have a full battery!

Reserve your battery

If you don’t have a portable charger handy, there are a couple of strategies for extending your phone’s battery life. Consider putting your phone in battery/power save mode, close out of apps you aren’t using, and try not to have your brightness at max capacity all day. Doing a few little things could end up saving you, and your battery in the long run.

Have a protective case on your phone

You never know what could happen to your phone when you’re at a festival. Most music festivals take place outdoors, which means weather and the elements could affect your phone. Having a phone case on your phone will not only help keep dust and other unwanted particles out of your phone, but will help to protect it against falls or spills.

Take a screenshot of  important info

Have you ever tried to look something up on the internet with 80,000 other people around you who also happen to be looking things up on their cell phone? It’s not an easy task. Taking a screen shot of important information you might need can save you time and headache! Consider snapping screenshots of the set list, stage lineups, festival map and anything else hosted on the internet you might need throughout the day.

Download music identifying apps

Chances are, you aren’t familiar with every single act you’ll encounter at a music festival. This is where music and song apps can really help. If you happen to enjoy the music you’re listening to but aren’t sure of the name of the song or artist, all you have to do is pull out the app and let it listen to the song playing and it should identify it for you. Some apps even save the songs you’ve identified, so at the end of the day, you’ll have a full list of new music to enjoy!

Save your top shows to your calendar

If you have a list of artists you just have to see, save their show time and stage to your phone’s calendar. You can set up notifications to alert you when it’s time to make your way to that area so you don’t miss your favorite performers.

Whether you’re heading off to the desert in the US for Coachella or Burning Man or Tomorrowland in Belgium, these tips can help you get the most out of your phone during the festivals.
