• Professional installation
    • An adult must be present: An authorized adult, 18 years or older, will need to be present and available to the technician during the entire installation.
    • Technician arrival time:The technician will arrive during the timeframe we indicated in the confirmation email. They will also call ahead of time to confirm they are on their way.
    • Installation timeframe: A typical installation takes around four hours, but yours will depend on factors unique to your home.
    • Clear work areas: Before the technician arrives, please move furniture to allow easy access to telephone and computer connections.
    • Existing services: Please don't cancel existing services until your new service is fully installed.
    • Landlord approval: If you rent your home, you may need to get permission from your landlord or building manager to allow AT&T to make changes to the wiring in the property. Please do this before the scheduled installation day.
  • Self-installation
    • Self-installation kit: Your self-installation kit will arrive one day before your service activation date.
    • Telephone jack: Your modem or Wi-Fi gateway will need to be plugged in to a telephone jack.
    • Activation time: Please wait until 8 p.m. to install your Internet and voice equipment. Earlier installation may lead to service interruption.
    • Existing services: Please don't cancel existing services until your new service is fully installed.
    • Account number and passcode: Have your account number and four-digit passcode ready when you install your service. Your passcode will be mailed to you separately.
    • Current AT&T customers: You will experience an interruption in your Internet and phone service on your service activation date. Your service will be restored after you have installed your new equipment. If upgrading to U-verse High Speed Internet, have your existing AT&T Member ID (primary email address) and password ready for U-verse registration.
