AT&T also offers the AT&T Value Plus^SM VL plan and the AT&T 4GB^SM plan. The Value Plus VL plan may be an affordable option for single-line users since it offers unlimited talk, text and data for $50.99 per month per line plus taxes and fees. One thing to note is this plan does not include a hotspot data allowance like the other unlimited plans.

Pay-as-you-go (also known as prepaid) plans enable you to pay upfront only for a set amount of service (minutes, texts, and data) you use. Do you need a 5G plan to get 5G cell phone service?

Yes, to use 5G service, you’ll need to have a cell phone plan that provides access to 5G service, be in a location where 5G coverage is available and have a cell phone that is 5G-capable. All of AT&T’s unlimited plans feature 5G access.³

While 5G phones will function using 4G LTE on a plan that doesn’t provide 5G access, you won’t be able to enjoy 5G quality service. For example, if your plan only offers 4G service and you have a 5G phone, your phone will only get a 4G level of service. That’s why it’s so important to have a wireless plan with 5G access. You should also keep in mind that even if you have both a 5G phone and a rate plan with 5G access, you’ll still need to be in an area where 5G is currently available to enjoy the full 5G experience.

Do AT&T cell phone plans include international service?

AT&T Unlimited plans offer unlimited talk, text, and data in and between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico at no extra cost.⁴ The AT&T Unlimited Premium® PL plan also offers unlimited talk, text and high-speed data in 20 Latin American countries at no extra cost.

If you are traveling to a country outside of the US, Canada or Mexico, and are an AT&T Wireless customer with an unlimited plan, AT&T offers International Day Pass for $10 per day. It costs $5 for each additional line used on the same calendar day, and you only pay for the days you use.

If you’re in an International Day Pass country, you can call within that country, any other International Day Pass country and back to the US for no additional charge. Calls to countries not included in International Day Pass will be billed at International Long Distance rates.
