From the Home screen, tap the Notes icon.
To create a new note, tap the Compose icon.
To write notes directly with your finger, tap the Pencil icon.
Notes can be typed using the iPad keyboard, written with a finger or Apple Pencil, or generated from an attached file like a voice recording, image, or message. You can combine multiple media types to create more detailed notes.

To make your handwriting clearer with Smart Script, tap the Menu icon.
Tap or slide the Auto-Refine Handwriting to ON.
With this feature, your iPad will adjust your handwritten notes to be more legible, while using on-device learning to preserve your unique handwriting.
Tap outside the menu to save your changes.
Write a note with your finger or Apple Pencil.
To have Smart Script refine your handwriting, pause for a few moments after writing. Your handwriting will be automatically adjusted.
To calculate math equations inside your note, write out the equation you'd like to solve, ending with an Equal sign.
You can also type an equation with the keyboard.
Tap Solve.
To reposition your notes, tap the Selector tool.
Draw a circle around the notes you wish to adjust.
Drag the corners of your selection to resize it.
You can also move or rotate your notes when selected.
To highlight your notes, tap the highlighter.
Draw over text you'd like to highlight.
You can diversify your note-taking with up to five pre-set highlighter colors, or choose one from the pallet.
In the Sidebar, touch and hold a note you'd like to move to a new location.
Tap Move.
You can also tap Share Note to send this note via email or message, or add it to another app such as Reminders.
Tap New Folder.
Enter a name for your new folder, then tap Save.
To add collapsible sections to your note, navigate to your note and select a line to use as the section header.
A header will include all text within a single line. New lines are created with the Return key.
Tap the Text Style icon.
Select a heading size.
"Title", "Heading", and "Subheading" are all types of headers. A larger header type will collapse any smaller headings inside of it when collapsed.
Tap outside the menu to close it.
Tap the Carat icon next to your heading to collapse it.
