Advanced Photo & Video Features

Learn how to access and use Camera modes, effects, customization, and crop a photo.

To access the Camera app, from the home screen, select the Camera app icon Camera app.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to:
 

• Access camera modes 
• Customize photo & video settings
• Crop a photo
• Access camera filters
• Access and use Spot Color
• Access and use Pro Mode
• Edit capture settings
 

Access camera modes

From the Camera app, swipe left or right to access Portrait or Pro. Swipe left to More to access modes such as Spot ColorPanorama, and Timelapse.

Note: Portrait allows you to highlight the subject of a photo by blurring the background. Pro allows you to take photos in manual mode. Spot Color allows you to select a color to highlight. Panorama allows you to create wider photos by stitching together multiple photos. Timelapse allows you to create time-lapse videos. Not all of these options are available when using the front facing camera.

To access Google Lens, select the Google Lens icon then follow the prompts to use.

Customize photo and video settings

From the Camera app, select the settings Settings icon. Adjust settings as desired.

Crop a photo

1. From the Camera app, select the Gallery icon. Swipe left to the desired photo, then select Edit.

Note: Alternately, from the home screen, select the google photos Photos app > navigate to and select the desired photo.

2. Select and drag the crop corners to crop as desired, then select the Checkmark icon.

Access camera filters

From the Tools screen, select Filters, then select Filters again. Select the desired filter, then select Done.

Access and use Spot Color

Spot Color allows you to choose one color and turn the rest of the photo black and white. To access the Spot Color feature, swipe left to More then select Spot Color. Select the desired area of the photo to choose a color, then drag the slider at the bottom to adjust the amount of black and white.

Access and use Pro Mode

To access Pro mode, swipe left to Pro. Adjust settings such as ISO, shutter speed and exposure levels as desired then select the Capture icon.

Edit capture settings

From the camera settings screen, scroll to and select Capture assistant, then select the desired switch to enable or disable the desired feature.

• ASSISTIVE GRID: Select the Assistive grid switch.
• LEVELER: Select the Leveler switch.
