Use Google Nest cameras with Connected Life

Actualizado hace más de 2 meses

You can add a Google Nest Nest Cam to your AT&T Connected Life system. You just need the Connected Life app and a Google Home account.

Pairing a Nest Cam

Before you can pair a Nest Cam with AT&T Connected Life, you must have a Google Home account. If you have an existing account, we'll ask you to sign in and link it when you set up your security hub and security devices. If you don't have one, we'll take you to Google Home to create one.

Once your accounts are linked, follow the prompts in the Google Home app to get set up. The app will ask you to scan the QR code, select a location, connect to your home Wi-Fi®, and choose a room where you'll place the camera. Once you complete these steps, you can check the view and location prior to mounting the camera.

Your Connected Life subscription comes with a Nest Aware subscription. You'll be prompted to:

  • Apply Nest Aware to your Connected Life home

  • Set up the Nest Aware features you want

  • Set permissions to access Nest Cams in the Connected Life app

Note: If you don’t complete setup for your cameras and for Nest Aware, you may not be able to see your Google Nest devices in Connected Life.

Installing a wired Nest Cam

Install with a stand

Google Nest Cams include a stand. You can use this to place your camera indoors on a shelf, desk, or counter. Simply adjust the camera so it points where you want.

Mount with screws

The included screws can firmly hold the camera on a vertical surface like a wall or ceiling.

  1. Twist and pull the wall plate off the camera base.

  2. Use the included screws to attach the camera where you want.

    • If you need to drill pilot holes, use a 7/64 in (3 mm) bit.

    • If you’re using the wall anchors, use a 1/4 in (6 mm) bit.

  3. Turn the camera head 180 degrees then feed the cable through the gaps in the plate,

  4. Twist the camera back onto the wall plate.

Tip: If you can’t get the view you want, twist the camera off the plate and turn it 180 degrees, then reattach it to the plate.

Installing a wireless Nest Cam

Important: Make sure you fully charge the camera before installing it.

Install with magnetic mount

Use the magnetic plate to hold your camera in place on any metal surface - indoors or outdoors. Or, to place on a wall, secure the magnetic mount to the wall with the included screws.

FYI: With either of these options, you can also use any weatherproof power accessories.

Install above 6.5 feet

To place your Nest Cam over 6.5 feet, use the secure loop. It's a cable that connects your camera to the mount so it won't fall.

Secure loop installation

  1. Screw the end of the loop into the threads on the bottom of the camera by hand, then pull the cable to the side and tighten with a flat head screwdriver.

  2. Place the loop around the magnetic mount where it meets the wall. The loop should slip behind the faceplate.

  3. Pull the tab to tighten the loop until it's snug. Make sure the tab is accessible so you can easily remove your camera for charging. (Don't push the tab behind the mount or you can't open the loop to remove your camera for charging.)

  4. Place your camera on the magnetic plate.

  5. Check the camera feed in the app to confirm that your camera covers the view you want.

Battery guide

Nest Cams that use a battery can be recharged by removing the camera from the mount and plugging it into a compatible 7.5W AC adapter and charge cable. It takes around 5 hours to fully charge the battery.
