Get setup info for Connected Life motion sensors

Actualizado hace más de 3 meses

Motion sensors use advanced algorithms to ensure exceptional performance in sensitivity, reliability, and false alarm immunity. If an installed sensor detects movement when your system is armed, it will send a signal to the security hub and a quick alert to the AT&T Connected Life app. You can adjust the sensitivity to protect an entire room with one device.

Motion Sensor Parts Overview
  1. Battery tab

  2. Pairing/test button and LED status light

  3. Sensor lens

  4. Knockout points

  5. Tapa trasera

  6. Enclosure screw

Pairing your motion sensor

Before you begin, unbox the sensor and have it ready to set up (including removing the battery tab). Make sure you have the latest version of the AT&T Connected Life app installed on your mobile device, then

  1. Open the app and select the Menu (≡).

  2. Tap + Add Device, then Motion sensors.

  3. Pull the plastic battery tab on the back of the sensor to power it on, then select Continue.

  4. Once the LED stops blinking red, press and release the test button on the front of the sensor.

  5. Once paired, the sensor will display online.

  6. Follow the prompts to name your sensor and finish up.

Test mode (optional)

Use test mode to check the range of your motion sensor and planned location before you install it.

  1. Press and release the pairing/test button on the front of the sensor.

  2. Leave the area without setting off the sensor while it warms-up. This takes a minute.

  3. Walk in front of the sensor to see where it detects motion.

  4. Look for the status LED to light up for two seconds to verify its location.

FYI: To test your sensor live, set your system to Arm Away and wait about a minute before walking in front of the sensor. If it detects motion, your alarm will sound. Disarm the system to complete testing.

Installing your motion sensor

Sensor location tips

Before placing the sensor, make sure you consider all factors including height, range, and location. The suggested mounting height is 6.5 feet above the ground. Other things to consider:

  • Mount sensors in a corner to get the widest view.

  • Place sensors where animals won’t enter the detection area and avoid aiming the sensors at stairways your pets may use.

  • Mount sensors in areas that aren’t obstructed by curtains, ornaments, or other items.

  • Avoid pointing sensors in direct sunlight or at sources of heat (like fireplaces or heating vents).

You can mount the sensor on a flat surface or in a corner with mounting screws or the included adhesive tape. To mount with screws, the sensor base has knockout points where the plastic is thinner. For flat surfaces, use the two knockouts on the inside of the sensor with the back case removed. In corners, use the four knockout points on the outer back case of the sensor. Or, you can use the included adhesive mounting tape as a quick and secure way to mount the sensor.

Sensor mounting

  1. Remove the battery tab from the sensor and make sure it’s paired to your security hub.

  2. Select a place to mount the sensor and open the Connected Life app to make sure the sensor is within range and detecting motion.

Adhesive mounting tape

If you're mounting the motion sensor on a flat wall, use the large rectangular mounting tape. First, remove the backing and apply the adhesive to the back cover of the sensor. Then, remove the other backing and press the sensor onto the wall. Apply pressure for several seconds to make sure the device is in place.

Flat wall adhesive tape

If you're installing the sensor in a corner, use two of the included thin strip adhesives and apply them to the chambered corners on the back cover. Then, press the sensor firmly to the corner of two walls. Apply pressure for several seconds to make sure the device is in place.

Mounting screws

The sensor’s back cover has knockout points where the plastic is thinner, allowing for screws to be drilled through the plastic.

  1. Loosen the single enclosure screw on the bottom of the motion sensor, then remove the back cover by separating the two halves.

  2. Hold the back case in your desired mounting location and drill the mounting screws through the knockout points and into the wall. If needed, use the included wall anchors to make sure the sensor is secure.

  3. Place the sensor into its case on the wall, then secure the enclosure screw at the bottom of the sensor. Don't over-tighten this screw.

LED status light guide

During normal operation, the LED status light stays off except in these situations:

  • If the enclosure is opened and something sets off the tamper switch, the LED lights up for two seconds to indicate it’s sending a signal to your security hub.

  • When the sensor is in test mode, the LED lights up every time the sensor detects movement.

Motion sensor settings

You can set up the motion sensor to act differently for Arm Stay and Arm Away modes.

  • Inactive: Sensor is inactive, and motion won’t set off an alarm.

  • Active after countdown timer: Sensor counts down the entry timer when motion is detected and then activates an alarm.

  • Countdown on door sensor: Sensor counts down the entry timer if motion is detected and then activates an alarm if a door sensor has been opened prior. If motion is detected without a door sensor being opened, then an alarm activates immediately on motion being detected.

  • Active immediately: An alarm goes off immediately if motion is detected.

Battery Guide

The motion sensor uses two AA alkaline batteries. Low battery detection occurs about one month before complete exhaustion. Pull the plastic battery tab to activate the pre-installed batteries before pairing and setup.

The sensor has an estimated battery life of up to five years under normal operating conditions and is capable of detecting a low battery. When the battery is low, the sensor sends a low battery signal to the security hub and displays a notification in the Connected Life app. The motion sensor operating temperature range is 14° to 113° F.

Changing the battery

After removing the battery:

  1. Make sure the batteries are installed in the correct dimensions. Refer to the "+" and "-" polarity guide inside the sensor.

  2. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the enclosure screw at the bottom of the motion sensor.

  3. Separate the two parts of the sensor enclosure by pulling them apart at the bottom.

  4. Remove the old batteries and press the Pairing/Test button 5-6 times to fully discharge them.

  5. Put in the new batteries and make sure the polarities match the sensor. High quality alkaline batteries are recommended for the best performance and longevity.

  6. Replace the cover by joining the two parts of the sensor enclosure together at the top fitting first, then at the bottom.

  7. Re-tighten the bottom enclosure screw and re-install the motion sensor.
