Is cell phone insurance worth it?

AT&T Protect Advantage is AT&T’s protection program for cell phones, tablets, and smartwatches—provided in partnership with Asurion. It’s sometimes referred to as “phone insurance,”, but it’s so much more. You can choose to protect one device with Protect Advantage, or up to four devices with Protect Advantage Multi-Device. Each Protect Advantage plan includes an unlimited number of claims, 1 $0 unlimited screen and back glass repairs, 2 same-day replacement and setup, 3 unlimited battery replacements, 4 quality fixes at 700+ uBreakiFix ® by Asurion stores, and AT&T ProTech expert support. Just remember, you can sign up for Protect Advantage only during an open enrollment period (or within 30 days of purchasing your device). What does phone insurance cover?

AT&T Protect Advantage is more than just insurance. It provides protection against lost or stolen devices, accidental damage from handling (ADH) physical (excluding ADH) or liquid damage, and out-of-warranty malfunctions. Are there deductibles or service fees with Protect Advantage?

There may be deductibles or service fees depending on your device, claim type, and the type of Protect Advantage plan you select. You’ll need your device’s make or model, mobile number, and ZIP Code to get started. View the current deductible amount for your device

What is ProTech support?

ProTech support is available to AT&T Protect Advantage plan subscribers and offers access to expert technical support for your covered devices. Customers can call ProTech support at 888.562.8662 Monday - Friday, 8am - 12am ET; and Saturday - Sunday, 10am - 10pm ET. Or login to their Protect Advantage account.

What determines how much I pay for Protect Advantage?

Protect Advantage is $16, $19, or $25 per month per mobile number enrolled, depending on device tier. Protect Advantage Multi-Device is $50 per month and covers up to four eligible devices. Devices may move to a different tier during your enrollment. Tier changes will be updated online and available at phoneclaim.com/att .

Does screen repair still count towards my aggregate claim limit?

Screen repair is unlimited and does not count towards your aggregate claim limit. The service also covers more than just cracked screens. It covers other types of damage to screens like flickering, black screen etc. Note: Legacy plans (enrolled prior to 2/24/2022) do not include unlimited screen repair and count towards your claim limit.

In general, eligible devices will have the following coverage:

Phones: Includes wireless device, battery, and, if part of the covered loss, standard battery charger, and SIM.

Wireless home phones: Coverage includes the device, power cord, backup battery, phone cable, and SIM card.

Wi-Fi–Connected laptops: Coverage includes laptop device, standard battery, and battery charger.

Tablets: Coverage covers the tablet device, battery, charger, and SIM card (unless it's Wi-Fi only).

Watches: Coverage includes device, battery, charger, and SIM. (Only watches with their own wireless number and SIM can be covered.)

AT&T Protect Advantage Multi-Device covers mobile devices that are connected to the AT&T wireless network and non-connected devices such as Wi-Fi^® tablets. It also covers laptops that are connected to the AT&T network. Once you select a primary device (a device connected to the AT&T wireless network with a postpaid monthly voice or data plan), you’ll be able to add three additional devices which may be either connected or non-connected. These additional three devices can be added at any time after your AT&T Protect Advantage Multi-Device enrollment.

Repairs are available in select locations, based upon parts and technician availability, and other criteria. If a device requires multiple types of repair, for example cracked screen and back glass repair, the device must qualify as an eligible device for each of the needed repairs, or the device will be replaced (replacement deductible/service fee applies). Same-day repair option depends upon claim approval time, part and technician availability. Repairs are performed by an Asurion-certified technician and come with a 12-month limited warranty. Repairs may use new or refurbished parts; may contain original or non-original manufacturer parts; , and may void the manufacturer’s warranty.
