Keep your home during a fiber outage with cellular backup. It adds a reliable fallback if your internet goes down, so you can stay online.
Internet backup uses the AT&T Smart Home ManagerSM app and a device on an eligible AT&T WirelessSM unlimited data plan1. They work together to keep you connected if your internet goes down due to a line issue, weather, or an outage in your area. When your fiber connection is restored, internet backup turns off automatically and your service returns to fiber.
To use internet backup, make sure you have:
If you experience a fiber outage, internet backup connects your All-Fi Hub to the eligible mobile device on your wireless account. This keeps your hub and all connected devices online. (You should turn off any non-AT&T extenders during an outage to avoid interruptions. AT&T Extended Wi-Fi® Coverage Service shouldn’t affect your backup.)
Once set up, Smart Home Manager sends a push notification when your internet backup is activated. When this happens, your hub connects to a participating mobile device in your home to keep you online until fiber services are restored. Be sure to keep the mobile device charged so you don’t lose service.
Once fiber service is restored, your internet backup automatically turns off, and your All-Fi Hub returns to fiber.
Important: Internet backup deactivates if you cancel AT&T Fiber or AT&T Wireless, change your AT&T Wireless to a limited plan, or remove the Smart Home Manager app.
Make sure you are at home and connected to your home Wi-Fi®.
FYI: To keep your internet backup working, accept all permission prompts and enable VPN settings, notifications, cellular data, and location services.
