Restore your U-verse TV DVR without deleting your recordings

Learn how to recover your U-verse TV DVR without losing what you've recorded.


Try this first

Having trouble with your DVR? You can fix many recording problems with these steps:
  • Restart your U-verse® TV DVR by holding the power button down for 10 seconds. Then press it again to restart your DVR. This takes 5 to 8 minutes and will interrupt any recordings in progress.
  • Access a frozen or missing program by pressing the Recorded TV button on your remote.

Recover recordings without deleting your programs

Having issues with your DVR recording? Try this recovery method. It won't erase your recordings unless they’re corrupted.

Heads up: The recovery process can take a few hours to complete.

Make sure you follow these steps on the DVR you’re having trouble with and not another receiver.
  1. Unplug the DVR power cord from the wall or back of the box and wait 10 seconds.
  2. Plug the DVR back in.
  3. Wait for 3 white dots to appear on the screen.
  4. Repeat the first 3 steps 2 more times.
  5. Keep the DVR plugged in. You should see 3 white dots, followed by a DVR system is starting message at the bottom of the screen. Don't see the gear message? Repeat the steps above.
