If you do not have a dedicated AT&T High Speed Internet line

  1. Remove everything on the AT&T High Speed Internet line but the modem.
    • If the modem connects, then one of the devices is interfering with the modem.
  2. Make sure there are no line splitters connected to the modem.
    • Note: A line splitter is a device used to separate telephone service from your AT&T High Speed Internet service.
  3. Reconnect each item one at a time.
  4. Try to connect.
  5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each device that was connected to the line until you determine which device is interfering with the modem.
    • Make sure filters are installed on all telephone jacks with analog devices.
      • telephone sets
      • answering machine
      • fax machines
      • caller ID units
      • analog modems
      • satellite television devices
