Customize data and talk usage alerts

Find out about the different types of notifications that help you track your wireless use and prevent overages.

Learn how to edit usage alerts

  1. Go to Profile, then select Communication preferences.
  2. If you have multiple accounts, select wireless from the drop-down.
  3. Select Edit under the type of alert you want to manage.
  4. Use the toggle to turn the alert on or off.
  5. Use the toggle to let us know who should receive alert notifications.
  6. Select Save.

About automatic data and talk usage alerts

Data alerts
If you have:

  • A current AT&T unlimited plan (AT&T Unlimited Plus Enhanced℠ or A&T Unlimited Choice Enhanced℠)
    • After 22GB per line in a month on AT&T Unlimited Plus Enhanced or anytime on AT&T Unlimited Choice Enhanced, you may experience slower speeds during busy times. Additional usage, speed, and other restrictions apply.
    • If you have AT&T Unlimited Plus Enhanced, we’ll also send a text alert to each phone in your shared data group when you use 75% of 22GB.
  • A retired AT&T unlimited plan (AT&T Unlimited, AT&T Unlimited Choice℠, or AT&T Unlimited Plus℠), you may experience slower speeds during busy times if you go over 22GB a line in a month.
  • A Mobile Share® plan
    • You'll get an alert when you use 75% and 100% of your data allowance.
    • Your data speeds may slow if you go over your plan’s data limit.
    • Each phone in the group will get the alert.
  • An older plan that doesn’t include unlimited data
    • If you go over your data limit and we add data, you’ll get automatic alerts when you reach 75% and 100% of the new total data limit.

Talk usage alerts
You’ll get a text alert before you use all your domestic talk minutes if you have any Rollover Minutes®. You may get more alerts if you keep going over your monthly limit.

Other alerts you may receive

Pay-per-use messaging and data alerts

Some older text and data plans bill a pay-per-use rate for every message or data session used. If you’re on one of these plans, we’ll send you an initial text message or email alert when you reach $20 in overage charges. You may get other overage alerts depending on your plan.

International alerts

Traveling internationally? Learn about all the international alerts you may get.

Older messaging and data plan alerts

If you’re on an older plan with a limited data and messaging allowance that we don’t offer anymore, you’ll get text alerts before you go over your monthly message or data limit. We’ll also send you alerts if you go over.
