About Sponsored Data

What is it?

AT&T partners can sponsor the data you use so that you can view specific content if you have an eligible AT&T wireless account. We automatically opt in each device on your wireless account for Sponsored Data.

The amount of Sponsored Data used doesn't count toward the monthly data allowance for all devices that opt in. If someone on your account is opted out and views Sponsored Data, the data used counts against your monthly data allowance.

How does it work?

  • When you view data usage details, you’ll see the name of the Sponsored Data provider.
  • We provide Sponsored Data at no extra cost to you if you are opted in and have an eligible account with a 4G-capable smartphone, tablet, mobile hotspot, or LaptopConnect card.
  • You can opt out of Sponsored Data for any device on your account anytime. Opting out means the data sponsor no longer covers the data cost, so the data amount used comes from your monthly data allowance.
  • You can opt in or out of Sponsored Data one time per bill period for each device on your account. If you opt out of Sponsored Data, you must wait until your next bill period to opt back in for that device. You can opt in or out of Sponsored Data one time per bill period for each device on your account.
