Setting up a Galaxy Watch for a child
From the Galaxy Wearable app, tap Start.
If prompted, enable permissions for Galaxy Wearable.
Select your child's watch.
On your phone, verify the displayed number matches your watch and tap Confirm.
Tap Set up for a child.
Tap Next.
Tap Let's go.
For this tutorial, we're showing how to set up with existing Google and Samsung accounts. If you or your child do not have accounts, you can create them as part of this process, however steps will vary from what is shown.
Tap Continue as....
You may be prompted to confirm your device or account password.
Select your child's account.
Scroll to and tap I agree.
Tap Get Started.
Scroll to and tap Next.
Tap Skip.
School Time allows you to minimize distractions and unnecessary interruptions while your child is at school. You can manage this setting in the Family Link app at any time, or tap Set up to set it up now.
Tap Skip again.
You can specify trusted contacts who have access to call or text your child's watch. You can manage this setting in the Family Link app at any time, or tap Set up to set it up now.
Tap Skip again.
Location Sharing allows you to view the location of each of your family's devices and be notified when they enter or leave specific locations. You can manage this setting in the Family Link app at any time.
Tap Next.
In this tutorial, we are showing the steps with the Family Link app already installed. If you don't have the Family Link app, you can install it now to help manage your Parental Controls for your child's watch.
Tap Next.
Tap Onward.
The following steps will confirm you and your child's Samsung account preferences. If you or your child do not have a Samsung account, you can create one as part of the setup process.
Select your child's account.
Tap Agree.
Tap Continue.
You'll need to accept Samsung's Terms and Conditions before continuing. Review the options and select your preferences.
On your child's watch, help them set a PIN or pattern to protect their device.
Your child will need to remember this PIN or pattern to unlock their watch.
Tap Agree.
Tap Turn on Auto back up.
Tap Skip.
Tap Next.
From this step you can adjust the orientation of your child's watch, and which wrist they prefer to wear it on.
Tap Next.
Tap Next again.
Tap Skip.
Your child's watch can be set up to use a mobile plan independently. Tap Next in this step to set up this feature.
Tap Not now.
Tap Set up to customize Samsung Health preferences and goals for your child.
Once your child's watch is set up, follow the prompts on the watch to learn about some basic functionality.
