Unlock requirements
The following criteria must be met to unlock an AT&T device:
- Device bought 60+ days ago: You purchased your AT&T WirelessSM device more than 60 days ago. It isn’t active on another AT&T account.
- Device paid in full: You paid for your device in full at purchase or paid it off through an installment plan. Your installment balance must be zero before unlocking.
- Device not reported lost or stolen: Your device hasn’t been reported lost, stolen, or involved in fraud.
- Account is current: If you’re a current AT&T customer, your bill can’t be past due. Sign in to your account to make a payment.
FYI: Don't have an account with AT&T? You can still unlock an AT&T device that meets all requirements by submitting an unlock request.
Find out if your device is unlocked
If you have an eligible Apple, Samsung, or Google device on an AT&T Wireless plan and it meets all the requirements, it should unlock by itself. Apple Watch is always unlocked.
