What is AT&T Upgrader?

How Do I Check My Upgrade Eligibility?

To check your upgrade eligibility status, visit www.att.com/phoneupgrade. You can also dial *NEW# (*639#) from your wireless phone or check upgrade options by logging into myAT&T and selecting the Upgrade Eligibility link.

Business customers can verify upgrade eligibility by contacting their Business Account Managers or by visiting the Premier website.

How Do I Upgrade My Device?

  • For a device that is eligible for a discounted upgrade, use the AT&T Upgrader app, or log in to your myAT&T account to complete the upgrade.

  • If an outstanding account balance is preventing you from upgrading, log in to your account to make a payment.

  • If your current contract isn't completed, you can still upgrade. Visit an AT&T retail store to upgrade at the full retail price.

What Happens After I Order?

If you have pre-ordered iPhone 5, the device is scheduled to ship directly to you. You can check the status of pre-orders via att.com/wirelessorderstatus. Devices purchased as part of presale will be shipped on a first-come-first-served basis. You will receive an order confirmation and estimated time-to-ship date. The actual shipment date and receipt of your order is not guaranteed and may be subject to delays.

You can pre-order iPhone 5 through the AT&T Upgrader App, online at att.com/phoneupgrade, through a corporate contract, or in an AT&T authorized retail location.

Beginning September 21, 2012, you can purchase iPhone 5 directly from an AT&T authorized retail location or order via att.com/iphone.
We accept the following payment types through att.com:

  • Visa®
  • MasterCard®
  • Discover®
  • Diners Club®
  • American Express®
  • Debit cards that don't require a PIN

How do I change my data plan?

Follow these steps to change a data plan for an individual wireless device:

  • 1. Log in to your myAT&T account. (Don't have a myAT&T login? Create an AT&T Access ID, and register your account online).

  • 2. Select myAT&T at the top of the page.

  • 3. Hover over Wireless at the top of the page, and then select Add or Change Services.

  • 4. Select the data feature you want to add, or select I no longer want to add this feature to remove it, and then select Next.

  • 5. Choose the effective date for your data plan from these options:
    • Backdate - Your new plan will be backdated to begin on the first day of your current billing cycle. Your next bill may be more complex than usual due to prorated charges or credits.

    • Today's Date - Your new plan will begin on today's date. Your next bill may be more complex than usual due to prorated charges or credits.

    • Future Date - Your new plan will begin on the first day of your next billing cycle.

  • 6. Accept the Terms & Conditions by selecting Submit.

Only eligible account services can be added, changed, or removed. For assistance, contact Customer Care at 1-800-331-0500 or 611 from your wireless phone.

How do I transfer or copy contacts to iPhone 5?

Like most cellular phones, iPhone uses a SIM card to determine the phone number, carrier, and features available for your account. However, iPhone does not store contacts and phone numbers on the SIM card.
