Getting started

  • You can download the update via Firmware Over the Air (FOTA). 
  • You must connect your device to Wi-Fi to download the update.
  • You can also download and install the update using your computer and the BlackBerry Link software.

Update & verify software

Update software over Wi-Fi

  1. Make sure your device is sufficiently charged and connected to the Wi-Fi network.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Software update.
  4. Tap Check for updates.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update.
  6. The device automatically restarts once the new software successfully installs.

Update software using your computer

  1. Download and install the BlackBerry Link software to your computer.
  2. Connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable.
  3. On the left side of the screen, select the Software updates tab.
  4. Select Check for updates.
  5. Select Install Software Update and follow the on-screen instructions.

Verify update

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap Settings.
  2. Tap About.
  3. Tap the Category field.
  4. Tap OS.
  5. Your device has the latest software if the Software release and OS version match the current update details.
